sofar... Pedanticism
Generally on the internet when someone mentions an "essentials" chart they are referring to those that originate from 4chan. Seeing as how boards like /mu/, /v/ and /tv/ are steadily becoming
shit I will include charts that originate from other areas of the internet. After all, no one is really an "authority" over recommendations for art let alone one anon from a chan board.
There are some factors that I look out for though as I'm not going to compile any topsters chart I see on the internet. Here they are:
- The chart must have an overarching theme to it. This can be genre (hip-hop / post-rock / eskimo bluegrass polka improvisations) / country (brazil / argentina / china) / topic or
theme (swag / boomer music / YouTube recommendation-core), etc
- No personal topsters, besides the fact that it would rarely introduce anything new, there are tens of thousands of topsters people make just to shitpost
- Must be (at least partially) made in a genuine attempt to share music. If someone makes a chart with Crazy Frog, Brokencyde, Blood on the Dance Floor, etc and calls it
"Patrician-core"; firstly no one will care, and two I won't include it because it's just shitposting.
